The first step that one should be taking in order to treat the skin problem acne effectively is to get the condition under control. If not then when you actually begin your acne treatment, you may discover further eruptions occurring on other areas of your face or skin. Because there are so many different products available for dealing with this skin condition finding the best acne treatment can be somewhat difficult. Unfortunately there are plenty of products around which simply do not work, but below we look at some that do.

It is important however that when using any of these treatments that you understand that they will not provide a cure to your problem overnight. In some cases, you may find that it takes weeks, months or even years before the condition is truly cured and brought under control. In addition, you may find that you need to try several different ones before you find one that works for you, because the effectiveness of each one varies from one person to the next.

As previously mentioned we are going to provide details of what are considered some of the best acne treatments available today. It is best if you do some research yourself as well to learn more about them as this could not only end up saving you money but a lot of heartache as well.

1. Proactiv – Of all the various different treatments now available, this is one of the most popular. But because it contains three different treatments (a cleanser, a toner and a lotion) these need to be used together to be truly effective. All three of the treatments that this product consists of contain Benzoyl Peroxide, which has been found to be extremely effective at treating all forms of acne. One advantage that it has over the other two treatments in this article is that it does not need to be prescribed to you by your doctor and can be brought over the counter or online.

2. Accutane – This is another very effective way for treating acne, however in order to use this you will need to obtain a prescription from your doctor. Also, because this is an oral treatment rather than a topical (like many of the others) you need to stick to the dosage recommended by your doctor. If not then it could end up causing some unwanted side effects.

3. Retin-A – This is another treatment, which can only be provided by a doctor prescribing it. But those who have been prescribed with this acne treatment have found it to be extremely effective. Not only does it treat the acne but it has also been found effective at helping to treat and prevent acne scarring. Although this is mostly prescribed to acne sufferers, there are some over the counter products available that also contain small amounts of this ingredient in them but are not as effective.

But as well as treatments which can be brought over the counter or be provided by your doctor there are plenty of other effective treatments that one can try. A quick search of the internet and you will discover lots more and many of these are made using only natural ingredients. So the risk of you suffering from any unwanted side effects is greatly reduced.

But as well as the best acne treatments that we have mentioned above if you go online you will find other natural treatments that you may want to consider trying instead. Many of these can easily be made at home using ingredients that you will often have in your kitchen and cost less than those ready prepared treatments.
