If you don’t know what “love handles” are, it’s the term for the fat that has accumulated around your waist area that
sags over your belt. Also known as belly fat, tires, etc. If you eat too much junk food, drink too much beer, or pop then
you probably have love handles. The term is about as endearing as the flab that it stands for.

How do you really know if you have love handles? Just give yourself a pinch at your waist. If you find yourself pinching
into a flabby roll of fat, then it’s safe to say that you do have an inch or two of sag around your midsection.

Getting rid of love handles is not just a matter of doing a couple of exercises. You can lose the flab, but it’s going to
take some time. The accumulated fat area around the waist is the last area your body will pay attention to losing. It’s also
the toughest area to target for losing this fat.

The muscles around your waist are called the obliques. The two exercises in this article targets the oblique muscle group.

Twist crunches targets your obliques and abs, and is very effective. They basically put a twist to a normal sit-up.
1. Lie on your back with your knees slightly bent.
2. With your hands behind on your head, lift your head slowly.
3. Bring your left elbow to your right knee, twisting your body to your right. At the same time extend your left leg.
4. Repeat this step, but twisting to your left.
5. Do twenty repetitions daily.

You might want to take a breather now. Drink a little bit of water and recover from shocking your muscles. Now move on to
the other exercise.

Another good exercise that targets the obliques is the Standing Trunk Twist.
1. Stand up with your feet about a foot apart, knees slightly bent.
2. Twist your upper body to the right, at the same time crossing your right arm out in front of you in the same direction
you are turning. Keep your feet still during the whole exercise.
3. Repeat, twisting to the left.
4. Repeat this action 100 times daily.

These two exercises are great, as they tone and strengthen your love handle area. Incorporate the Twist Crunches and
Standing Trunk Twists in your daily workout program, and you will soon have a handle on your love handles.

You also need to have a regular aerobic workout with your exercise program. By getting your heart rate up you will boost
your metabolism, and your body will burn much more fat. Have as a goal to do 30 minutes of cardio daily together with the
love handle exercises. This will help you in your fight against the fat rolls around your waist.

Last but not least, you need to have a balanced diet of vegetables, fresh fruits and lean meats. Your quest in shedding
your love handles will be much easier if you do the right exercises and have a proper diet. This will give you quicker
results all over your body, not just around your waist.
